DESCRIPTION:

  1. You've landed a job at a local newspaper that would like to develop an internet web site that corresponds with its printed edition. Because of your knowledge of web site design and development, they have selected you to create a portion of the the web site.


  1. To begin, they would like you to create the front page feature story, which is titled "High School Education."


DETAILS ON FEATURE STORY
    • Information about Malden High School (Mission Statement, Set-up of MHS, and Schedule)
    • List of courses that a typical high school student takes.
    • Information on the courses (course descriptions)
    • Sample assignments from each course.
  1. Also, "draft" out the remainder of the page. (What are some items that are found on an online newspaper web site?)

OPTION #2

DESCRIPTION:

  1. You've landed a job at a local newspaper that would like to develop an internet web site that corresponds with its printed edition. Because of your knowledge of web site design and development, they have selected you to create a portion of the the web site.

  2. To begin, they would like you to create the front page feature story, which is titled "Consumer Information." (your title should match your content)

  3. Create a website of your choice that informs the public about a hobby, sport, interest, products, etc...

  4. The topic of your website has to be approved by Mrs. Horwitz prior tostarting this project.

  5. Your website should cover 4 or more categories, as well as, have a lot of information in each category.



CRITERIA:

Your web site should:
  • Show continuity by using the same theme or message throughout the web pages
  • Attract attention, arouse interest, be convincing.
  • Convey clear information
  • Include a minimum of 2 web pages.
  • At least 1 scanned picture and 1 digital picture
  • A medium to large amount of content.

Step 1:Research existing newspaper web sites
    • Think of some well-known web sites that are frequently visited. Take notes as you answer these questions:
    • What's consistent about the web site?
    • How can you tell it's the same web site?
    • What theme/design appears through the web pages?
Step 2: Plan the WHAT, WHO, AND WHY of Your Web Site
    • What is your web site about?
    • Who are your target audience?
    • Why would they want to look at your web site!
Step 3: Refine your Ideas
    • Draft a Story Board for your web site
    • Draft out some text
    • Search or create clipart, animation, sound, images, etc. to use on your web site.

Step 4: SELECT YOUR THEME/BACKGROUND DESIGN
Step 5: REVISE, REVISE, REVISE
    • Share your sketches, storyboards, drafts, and initial scripts with your classmates to obtain their suggestions. Make improvements to your web site.
Step 6: Design Your Web Site
    • Create and design your web site using html tags, images, multimedia components, etc..
Step 7:
  • Do a "TEST" of you web site, make sure everything is designed and working well.
Step 8:
  • Print out and present your website to the class on the day of the final. Also, hand in all draft work used in preparing this web site.
